The starting hourly rate for Majestic Paws dog walkers is $**.**, plus tips. They can also expect to earn bonuses when there’s more than one pet in the house, as well as for evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Raises are offered regularly for employees with excellent on-time records and customer satisfaction ratings.
Some dog walkers choose to work part-time with Majestic Paws to supplement their regular income, to get some daily exercise, or to satisfy their need to interact with animals. Others are so passionate about dog walking that they make a full-time career of it…and do very well for themselves. You can be as busy as you’d like and earn the salary you require by delivering superior service at all times.
At Majestic Paws, we pride ourselves on supplying our clients with the same dog walker for every walk. This makes pets and their owners more comfortable, and it also means you’ll get to bond with the dogs you walk because you’ll see them on a regular basis.
Our clients love the fact that we only walk one dog at a time, so no, you will never have to walk more than one dog (unless there are multiple dogs in one household and the client requests that they be walked together).
If hired, you will be assigned to one or more of the neighborhoods in our Chicago service area, including Lincoln Square, Roscoe Village, Lake View, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Wicker Park, Old Town, Ukrainian Village, River North, River West, Gold Coast, Loop, South Loop, West Loop, and Pilsen.
The majority of our dog walking happens while our clients are at work, so that means Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM are our busiest times. We’ll expect you to be available for your shift, within your set hours, every week. We also offer overnight stays, which are more likely to be requested on weekends and holidays. These are great ways to earn some extra cash, and you will often have the option of picking up those shifts.
Most dog walkers work close to where they live, to avoid having to pay Uber, parking, or public transportation fees. Riding a bike is a good option, however, if there’s some distance between you and your assigned area.
We will take care of customer acquisition, scheduling, billing, customer service…while you walk the dogs and report to the owners. You are largely responsible for delivering the Majestic Paws royal treatment. That includes not only making sure pets are happy and healthy but communicating with the client about how the walk went, complete with notes about their pet’s mood, condition, or anything else they might find valuable.
Our business is largely a dog walking business; however, we also offer cat sitting and overnight services. You might find yourself feeding a cat and cleaning their litter box or housesitting while the owner is away.
We expect our dog walkers to show up every day, ready to interact with our client’s pets and deliver a royal experience. However, we do understand that people become ill and emergencies happen. In this case, a Field Manager or other dog walker will be asked to cover your walks. Again, keep in mind that we guarantee service to our clients. That means only walkers who show up consistently and on time can be long-term Majestic Paws employees.
When you’re working with animals, it’s always wise to expect the unexpected. We are not only fully licensed in Chicago, we are fully insured against accidents. You will always have the ability to communicate with office or field management.
